As we recover from the hangover of the World Cup, this week we turn our attention to the Karpov Poikovsky tournament in the Ukraine. Typically this tournament does not feature a lot of decisive games, with a lot of conservative openings and cautious play. Our feature game does not fit into that category, as Viktor Bologan and Ian Nepomniachtchi discussed an unusual opening that led to a lot of fur flying before the result was decided.
