Attacking Opening for Attacking Players #5

It is April, no more "March Magnificent Magnus"; Larry gets back to his interesting series "Attacking openings for Attacking Players". One great attacking openings is the Shabalov Gambit, named after the U.S. GM Alexander Shabalov, who perfected this line, involving a pawn sacrifice, 15-20 years ago. the opening maintains its popularity thru these days; it is sharp and aggressive, ideal for enterprising players and usually leads to combative and rich middle games. Larry starts out with a classic example of the Gambit: a game played in the Tal Memorial 1992 between Krasenkov and Sveshnikov. Then GM Christiansen shows us a very complex and much more modern approach to the Shabalov Gambit: a game played in the Bundsliga 2010 between Peter Meister and Falko Bindrich.
